Abstract
This thesis is aimed at analyzing the intrinsic elements of “Ten Indians”. The data were gathered through internet browsing and library research. To acquire a clear description about intrinsic elements of this story, the writer used descriptive analysis. The research investigated the intrinsic elements by reading the short story, identifying intrinsic elements, classifying the intrinsic elements, and analyzing them. Analyzing data only focus on the intrinsic elements, without taking or using any data from the author’s life and the social cultural background (extrinsic elements). The intrinsic elements that can be found in plot, character, setting, theme, point of view, atmosphere, and style. The analysis of the plot of this story leads to the division of 5 elements: situations, general circumstances, raising actions, climax, and denouement. The theme of this story is dramatic love story and discrimination of race. Determines setting of “Ten Indians” is setting of place and setting of time. And there two fundamental in analyzing the style, they are diction and tone.
