Abstract
This research is a descriptive study which aims at describing Indonesia-English codeswitching in Lombok Post. The population are Lombok Post newspaper January 2011 editions. The sample are the headlines of these editions. The researcher used non participant observation technique and note-taking to obtain the required data. There were 31 collected headlines in this research. From those headlines, there 138 frequencies of codeswitching. Data analysis was divided into three main sections; identification, classification, and explanation. It was find that there were three elements of codeswitching that occured in this research; noun element (60.8%), verb element (23.9%), and adjective element (15.3%). Types of codeswitching that occured in this research were emblematic switching (83.3%), intra-lexical switching (12.3%), and intra-sentential switching (4.34%). There were four reasons why Lombok Post newspaper switched from Indonesian to English language: talking about particular topic (62%), quoting somebody else (20%), being emphatic about something (13%), and the least reasons that occurred in this research was repetition used for clarification (5%).
