The presents study is aimed at improving students’ speaking ability through Cooperative Learning (CL) Strategy of eight graders’ of Mts. Nurul Haramain Putri Narmada. There were 34 students in VIII-A class. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). It was conducted in two cycles. For cycle one there were two techniques used under the CL Strategy, they are Number Heads Together and Think Pair Share. While for cycle two there was one technique used under the CL Strategy, it was Listening Team. To identify the process, the researcher observed students’ enthusiasm, and students’ cooperative while teaching learning process. To identify the students’ speaking ablity, the researcher observed students’ Accuracy, Fluency, and Comprehensibility in their speaking. In the first treatment, it was found that the students seemed enthusiastic in studying through coopertive learning, but they paid less attention to teacher’s intruction. The number of students who passed the passing grade in treatment one was 20 (58.82%) students. It means that treatment was unsuccesfull because there were some students who could not achieve minimum standard. While for the second treatment the researcher found that students needed little adaptation with the method provided by researcher. It was visible from students’ enthusiasm in following teacher’s instruction. The number of students who passed the passing grade in treatment two was 27 (79.42%) of 34 students, which means that the treatment was succesful because the students could achieve researcher’s minimum standard. In the last treatment, the researcher found that the students were more familiar with the method than they were before and getting used to following the instructions of Cooperative Learning Strategy. And the number of students who passed the passing grade in treatment three was 34 (100%) students. This means that, the treatment was succesful because the students achieved researcher’s minimum standard. The equivalence of students’ result from pre-test and post test was 44.12%. It is means that, there are 44% students had increased their speaking ability. From the result above, the factors may cause the effectiveness in using CL strategy are; the students enthusiasm in speaking when discussion activity, the students cooperate in solve the problem, the students get stimulation being the best group in every group, students free to express their idea without being worried about grammar and vocab.
