Abstract

This study is aimed to determine the effect of nitrogen fertilizer level on crude fiber and crude protein content of Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott at the 45 days old harvested. The study was conducted from April to September 2018th at the Teaching Farm Lingsar. The materials used were Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott and Urea as a nitrogen source. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consisted of 5 levels fertilizer as were is T0 (Control). T1 (100 kg N/Ha), T2 (200 kg N/Ha), T3 (300 kg N/Ha), and T4 (400 kg N/Ha) treatment and 3 times of replications. The observed variables are the crude protein and crude fiber content analyzed with Proksimat analysis. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), and continued with Duncan's multiple range test. The results showed that different fertilizer levels significantly affected to the crude protein and crude fiber content of Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott. The highest crude protein obtained in T4 (400 kg N/Ha) with averages 14.70%, and the lowest crude protein obtained in T0 (Control) treatment with an average 9.12%. Whereas the lowest crude fiber was obtained at T4 (400 kg N/Ha) with averages 26.39% and the highest crude fiber obtained in T0 (Control) treatment with a mean 36.96%.
