Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in generic science skills of high school students in the problem-based learning model and guided inquiry, to determine the differences in generic science skills of students between students who have critical thinking skills above average and students who have critical thinking skills below average, and to find out the interaction between learning models with the ability to think critically about the generic skills of science of high school students. The type of research used in this study was an experiment with a sampling technique that was cluster random sampling. The results of the research data analysis showed that the average posttest value of the experimental class II was better than the experimental class I (Sig. 0.003 <0.05). In addition, the average final score of students who have high critical thinking skills is better than students who have low critical thinking skills (Sig. 0,000 <0,05). The interaction of the learning model and the ability to think critically on generic science skills was obtained Sig. 0.124> 0.05. Based on these results it can be concluded that the generic science skills of students who use the guided inquiry learning model are better than the problem-based learning model, the generic science skills of students with critical thinking skills above average show differences and better outcomes than students with critical thinking skills below average, and there is no interaction between problem-based learning models and guided inquiry with the ability to think critically towards generic science skills of high school students.
