Abstract

The study aimed to determine the effect of nitrogen fertilization levels on crude protein and crude fiber content of Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott at 30 days old harvested. The research was conducted in June 2018 until September 2018, at The Teaching Farm Lingsar and at The Laboratory of Animal Feed and Nutrition Analysis of Animal Husbandry Faculty Mataram University. The material used in the research is Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott and urea fertilizer as a nitrogen source. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 level of fertilizer as a treatment and consisted of 3 times of replications. The variables observed were crude protein and crude fiber content. Crude protein and crude fiber content are obtained using proximate analysis. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan’s multiple range tests. The results showed that the used of fertilizers with the different levels significantly affected (P<0.05) the crude protein and crude fiber content of Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott at the 30 days old harvested. And 400 kg N/ha fertilizer level is the best level that can provide crude protein content reaching an optimal level of 14.66% and crude fiber content of at least 23.71%.
