Abstract

Dry land in Indosesia covers more than 67 million hectares,where as in the Provices of Westt Nusa Tenggara (NTB), dryland covers more than 84% of the land occurring in this province or more than 1,807,463 hectares. There are some problems in developing this dry land tobe a productive agriculture land such as the availability of water, low soil fertility and physical propterties of soil dominated by sandy soil. This study aimed to determine the effect of the irrigation systems (flooding and drip irrigation systems), as well as biochar and biofertilizers on the growth and irrigation efficiency of water in sorghum. The results showed that: (1) Combination application of biochar soil and IMR increased the maximum vegetative dry weight of sorghum by 87%. (2) application of biochar and fitosan increased sorghum production by 52%. (3) Irrigation systems, flooding and drip irrigation were not influence the dry weight of sorghum by 87.77 %. (4) Drip irrigation increased irrigation efficiency by 86% in comparation with the flooding irrigation systems
