Abstract

-This research is aimed to know: (1) the influence of problem based learning through critical thinking ability in physics of students; (2) the influence of prior knowledge through critical thinking ability in physics of students; (3) the interaction between problem based learning and prior knowledge through critical thinking ability in physics of students. This research was a quasi experimental with Factorial Design 2 x 2. The population in this research was the entire students of X MIA in SMAN 1 Kediri. Multiple choices test were used to get the data of students’ prior knowledge, and to gain the data of critical thinking ability were used essay. The data analysis used was the two-way anava hypothesis test with 5% of significance standard. The result of this research showed that: (1) there is an influence of problem based learning through critical thinking ability in physics of students; (2) the is an influence of prior knowledge through critical thinking ability in physics of students; (3) there is no interaction between problem based learning and prior knowledge through critical thinking ability in physics of students
