Abstract

The development of the Diffuser Augmented Wind Turbine (DAWT) concept continues to be carried out to increase the power output. Increased power on DAWT technology was caused by increased speed of wind flow in the diffuser so the power of the rotor on the variations of wind speed can be significantly increased. Increased wind speed in diffuser can also increase the electrical power for the relatively small-sized turbine. In this study carried out by simulation method used the Autodesk CFD 2016 software which aims to find out the variation of the total number of turbine blades on the diffuser augmented wind turbine system towards the increase of the wind speed and wind turbine rotor power. Variations were made on the number of turbine blades and input wind speed on the inlet wall from boundary condition 3 m / s - 16 m / s. As a result of this study showed that the distribution of the increase in entrance wind speed from the diffuser augmented wind turbine was located in variations of 5 turbine blades with input speed 3 m/s produces 4.6 m/s wind speed of input and 16 m/s wind speed values produce entrance of 24.6 m/s. The results also showed that the best wind turbine rotor power was on the diffuser augmented wind turbine with variations of 3 blades turbine at entrance wind speed of 4.5 m / s at 13.125 Watt and the wind speed entrance 24.3 m / s obtained a value of 840,863 Watt.
