Abstract

This study verified whether English movie can influence the English vocabulary mastery of junior high school students. It was aimed to know whether movie is effective for vocabulary learning. This study was conducted at SMPN 16 Mataram. The population of this study was the second year students who were spread into five classes. The sample of this study were students in VIII B . This study only used one class .The data of this study were collected by applying tests. There were pre-test and post-test and the type of test was matching items. In analyzing tha data, statistical procedure was applied. In order to know whether English movie can influence the English vocabulary mastery of junior high school students, the researcher compared the means of pre-test and post-test of the students. It was found that the mean score of the post-test (67.853) is higher than the mean score of the pre-test (30.195). From the analysis it is concluded that the movie can give influence and improvement in vocabulary mastery of junior high school students. The movie also effective for vocabulary learning. It is shown that the t test (21.156) is also higher that the t table value (2.02). Key words: movie, media, English, Influence.
