Abstract

This study is intended to analyze the translation methods used in song Open Happiness into bahasa Indonesia. The method used in this research is descriptive method. It describes the translation process and compare the original lyrics with the Indonesian version to find out the methods used in each sentence, and the example which taken from the songs lyrics Open Happiness and Buka Semangat Baru. The data are collected through the library research and internet browsing. The data collected are analyzed and interpreted by classifying the process of translation. From this study, it was found that the song Open Happiness is translated into song Buka Semangat Baru through literal method, free translation method, and adapted method. It is also found that many changes occurred in the structure of sentences during translation process, and it aims at matching the tone of the song and as well as the sentences with the overall context of the song.
