Abstract
The thesis entitled “The use of metaphors in daily conversation of Sasak families” aims to find out the metaphors used by Sasak when they get involved in communication each other, the context when the conversation takes place, and the functions of their use. To collect the data, a recorder and notes were used as the instruments and the records were transcribed in a written form. The finding of this research is that metaphors used to advice, to make humor and criticize. Besides, there are some metaphors used by Sasak families to describe someone else when they talked each other based on the topic.
