Abstract

The Wajageseng area has considerable potential plantation land mostly used by farmers to grow rice, tobacco and teak trees as well as many othe land areas that are still not fully managed for agriculture and plantations. Provision of irrigation water of plantation land in Wajageseng Village utilizes surface irrigation system, drilling well, rain-fed means to use rain as a source of water and water source obtained from ground water. The management of plantation land in Wajageseng Village has constraints on the lack of surface water availability and the high cost of groundwater exploitation. In this study measured infiltration rate and soi physical properties test. Infiltration rate measurements were carried out in Wajageseng Village area located in Kopang Sub-district with 4 test point locations. Examination of soil physical properties was carried ou at Geotechnical Laboratory of Faculty of Engineering University of Mataram. Infiltration rate measuremen using inundation method is with single ring infiltrometer. The results of this study indicate that the infiltration rate in Wajageseng Village is highest 41. 31 cm / h at point 3 with medium vegetation with very dry land conditions, many rocks and types of inorganic sil soil or fine sand diatomae, or silt diatomae, elastic sil (MH ) with the lowest infiltration rate at point 4 (16.07 cm / h) with very dry land conditions with lots of weeds and the type of non-organic silt soil (ML). The estimation of infiltration rate with Horton equation does not vary much with infiltration rate. Field, especially at point 1 with value of Volume error = 17.383%, point 2 with value Volume error = 19.049% point 3 with value Volume error = 23.594%, point 4 with value Volume error = 23.997% and with correlation coefficient at point 1 = 0.962, titk 2 = 0.950, titk 3 = 0.952, and point 4 = 0.946.
