Abstract

Introduction Cisplatin-based chemotherapy combined with radiotherapy is a treatment of choice in advanced stage nasopharyngeal cancer. Chemotherapy should be given for 6 cycles and may affect the liver function. Aim of study To evaluate the indication of liver injury through analysis GOT and GPT serum level before and after 6 cycles of cisplatin-based administration in patient with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods Data collection will do retrospectively through medical records of West Nusa Tenggara general hospital. Inclusion criteria including patients who diagnose nasopharyngeal cancer stage 3 or 4, receive 6 cycles of cisplatin and paclitaxel chemotherapy and data SGOT and SGPT available on medical record since 2016-2018. Data collection including characteristic patient, type of histopathology and GOT and GPT serum level. Data will analyze statistically with paired t-test to knows the difference of GOT and GPT serum level before and after chemotherapy. Result There were 33 patients were fulfilled the criteria in this study. Most of patients are male with the ratio 3:1. The mean age patients is 46,6 years old. The most histopathology finding was undifferentiated carcinoma (WHO III). The mean of GOT level before and after chemotherapy were consecutively 22,76 and 30,03. The result of paired t-test is significantly difference. The mean of GPT level before and after chemotherapy were consecutively 22,51 and 31,46. This result is also statistically significant difference. Conclusion There is a significant increasing of GOT and GPT serum level before and after 6 cycles of cisplatin and paclitaxel chemotherapy.
