Abstract

Current day, gasification which has been researched and widely used to produce synthesis gas was only coal and agricultural waste gasification. The investigation has not been widely done in cow manure, while the manure can be easily obtained and contains much carbon. Biomass gasification of cow manure is able to produce synthesis gas which can be used as fuel in engine of Suzuki 110 cc. The gasification process happening is air as supported gas with various flow rate of 35 litres/minute, 40 litres/minute, 45 and 50, litres/minute. Syntesis gas derived from the gasification process with air flow rate of 35 litres/minute produces a high heat value with GHV of 9.569,96 KJ/m3 and NHV of 8.730,51 KJ/m3 . This value is higher compared to the air flow rate of 40 litres/minute with GHV of 8.959,65 KJ/m3 and NHV of 8.229,75 KJ/m3 , 45 litres/minute with GHV of 8.093,76 KJ/m3 and NHV of 7.386,95 KJ/m3 and 50 liters/min with GHV of 5814.25 KJ/m3 and NHV of 5.341,44 KJ/m3 . Synthesis gas gained from the gasification process results in four combustible gases i.e: CH4, C2H6, H2 and CO. Fuel consumption in the engine shows the synthesis gas of type A has a better quality compare to gas syntesis of type B, C and D, since the syntesis gas of type A has the lowest fuel consumption compared to type B, C, D in rotation of 1500 rpm, 5.333 liters/min, 2500 rpm, 11.333 liters/minute, 3500 rpm 15 litres/minute and 4500 rpm, 18 litres/minute, while the fuel consumption on the syntesis gas of type B, C and D was higher at the same rotation. In accordance to the condition, the lower usage of fuel takes a higher braking load, so that the syntesis gas of type A requires the highest braking loads.
