Abstract

The study aimed to identify the type and content of dry matter and crude fat contained in the cattle feed in the cowshed at Batu Ngompal Lingsar of West Lombok. The study was conducted at Animal Feed and Nutrition Sciences of Animal Husbandry Faculty, University of Mataram in June and July 2014. Samples of fresh feed for 20 cows were taken randomly from each, approximately 3 kg (10% of total ransom) and then were sorted out based on their families and types. The qualitative data of the study were analyzed descriptively while the quantitative data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel program and computed based on the average value and standard deviation. Results of the study show that there were as many as 11 types of feed ingredients identified, namely: Imperata cylindrica, Commelina diffusa, Cyatula Sp, Sp Brachiaria, Digitaria adscendens, Drymaria villosa, Fimbristylis scaberrima, Jussiae linifolia, Ageratum conyzoides, leucaena-leucocephala, and Amarathus hybridus. The average contents of dry matter and crude fat were found at 32.49 ± 12.03% and 1.68 ± 1.03% respectively.
