Abstract

This research is aimed at getting the information an aspects of ecology of Gosong Kaki Merah bird (Megapodius reindwardt) in Alam Kerandangan tourism park for conservation. This research was conducted in two stages of observation and interview and distributing questionnaires to the person in charge in the location of the research including the community around. The parameters to be observed are activity, the habitat, the number, and the status of the bird population. The data were collected through interview, direct and indirect observation, literature study and the data were tabulated for analysis. The research showed that Gosong Kaki Merah bird only have 5 nestles in around 18 ha of research area. The number of the bird is only 5 around the boundaries of East Lombok strait. The status of the bird in endangered. The birds were flying around in the morning and afternoon to find food in dark areas. They were flying, perching on trees, fetching leaves, and whistling. It concluded that the bird of Gosong Kaki Merah is available and endangered to extinction and relatively few.
