Abstract

This research aimed to learn the characteristics of chicken phenotype in District,of Tarano Empang, and Plampang Sumbawa Regency. This research was conducted on February 13 to March 11, 2017. The material used is 114 cockerels and 123 hens were taken randomly. The variables observed were the color of feather, legsskin, earlobe, skin and the typeof comb. Quantitative measurement were the height of comb, the length of the femur, tibia, and shank, the distance between the pubis, the distance within the end of the sternum to the pubic, and the body weight. The data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the qualitative of cockerels in the three districts of Sumbawa Regency were columbian color on the cockerels 40.95 percent and black color 34.53 percent on hens; the type of comb walnuts on hens35.69 percentand pea 32 percent on cockerels. The color of shank was dominant black on hens (42.53 percent)rather cockerels 17.76 percent; almost of all the skin color (99.56 percent) was white (51.50 percent) on hens and (48.06 percent) on cockerels; the earlobe color (86.02 percent) was red, (43.43 percent) on hens and 42.59 percenton cockerels. The height of the comb were 13.05 mm cockerels and 9.43 mm on hens;the cockerels the length of tibia 100.94 mm and hens on 81.53mm; the cockerels lenght of femur 84.81 mm and hens on 71.87 mm;the length of the shank was longer on cockerels 89.62 mm than hens on 71.52 mm; distance within the pubic washens37.53mm; and distance within the pubic to the end of the sternum was 56.26 mm; The body weight of cockerels was 2471 gr and hens was 1645 gr.
