Abstract

Background: Anemia is a condition lack of red blood cells in the body. Anemia in pregnancy is a serious problem that can cause health effects for both mother and fetus. Anemia in pregnancy is influenced by several factors, such as the level of knowledge, attitude, and compliance to iron tablet consumption. This study aims to determine the correlation between the level of knowledge, attitudes, and compliance of iron tablet consumption on the incidence of anemia in pregnancy. Research Method: This study was an observational analytic study with a cross sectional research design. This study used non-probability sampling technique. The research subjects were 76 trimester III pregnant women at Puskesmas Karang Pule. The data was taken by filling questionnaire and hemoglobin examination. Data analysis was performed by spearman correlation test. Results: The incidence of anemia in pregnancy at Puskesmas Karang Pule reached 40.8%. Most respondents had sufficient knowledge (53.9%), good attitude (88.2%), and good compliance with iron tablet consumption (43.4%). Based on the results of data analysis, there was correlation between attitudes and compliance of iron tablet consumption on the incidence of anemia in pregnancy. But there was no correlation between the level of knowledge of the incidence of anemia in pregnancy. Conclusion: Anemia in pregnancy at UPT PKM Karang Pule was high. Anemia in pregnancy is influenced by several factors, such as family support, social economy, infection, nutrition, and antenatal care
