Abstract

This study analyzed figurative languages in the song lyrics album “Thank You Allah” by Maher Zain. The song’s album consists of 13 songs, but the scope and limitation of this study just 5 songs: Hold My Hand, Insyaallah, For The Rest of My Life, Thank You Allah and Palestine Will be Free. The aims of this study are to describe the types of figurative language are used and to describe kinds of moral messages are available in album “Thank You Allah”. The method in this study is descriptive qualitative method. The findings and analysis of this study shows that there are 13 from 13 figurative languages can be found: personification, metaphor, simile, hyperbole, imagery, repetition, irony, litotes, paradox, symbol, metonymy, allegory and synecdoche. The analysis of moral messages also appear based on five songs has been analyzed. This study used the theory of Perine to analyze the figurative languages and the theory of Palmer to analyze the moral messages.
