Abstract
This research aimed to find out the translation shifts of verb and verb phrase in The Little Prince. It also aimed to describe the accuracy of verbs and verb phrases found in the novel. The data were collected from The Little Prince and Pangeran Cilik which were presented using descriptive qualitative method. The findings of this research reveal there are several types of different translation shifts and different levels of accuracy found in the novel. The result of this research shows that there are 231 data of translations shifts in total consisting 158 data of verb and 73 data of verb phrase which are classified into several different types of shifts namely level shift and category shift. In addition, category shift consists of structure shift, class shift, unit shift, and intra-system shift. From those 231 data, there are 228 or 98.7% data classified as accurate, 1 or 0.4% data classified as less accurate, and 2 or 0.9% data classified as inaccurate.
