Abstract

This study entitled “Teachers’ Perspective in Implementing 2013 Curriculum in SMPN 2, SMPN 3 and SMPN Darul Hikmah Mataram in Academic Year of 2019/2020”. This study aimed to reveal English teachers’ perception about the implementation of curriculum 2013 in Junior High School Mataram. This study was a qualitative study. It involved 6 English teachers as subjects of the study. The data were collected through In-depth and semi-structured interview. In this study, the researcher prepared a list of general topics or questions as the interview guide related to the theme of teachers’ perspective in implementing curriculum 2013. Based on the findings, the researcher found teachers’ positive and negative perception about the implementation of curriculum 2013. In positive perception it revealed that; (1). Curriculum 2013 might build the students character as the next generation. (2). Teacher’s role as a facilitator and teacher’s and student’s book made the implementation of curriculum 2013 becomes easier. (3), Curriculum 2013 could lead student to become active learner. (4). Character assessment model in curriculum 2013 was not too complex as before revision. Meanwhile, in negative perception it revealed that; (1) Students still had difficulty to perform active learning which was suggested in curriculum 2013, (2) In implementing 2013 curriculum, teachers were required to be more creative and innovative in teaching.
