Abstract

Increasing of population growth, vehicle ownership and other public transport systems create many traffic problems, especially at intersections. West Lombok Regency is a developing district that run into these problems. Either intersections in West Lombok Regency that needs evaluation and performance improvement is Gunung Sari unsigned intersection. Therefore, an analysis of performance in existing condition at the intersection is required. The purpose of this study is to determine performance of the Gunung Sari unsignalized four-way intersection at the existing conditions and find out appropriate alternative problem solving. This type of research uses quantitative descriptive methods. Primary data obtained from direct surveys during peak hours of morning, afternoon and evening for three days and analyzed using the Pedoman Kapasitas Jalan Indonesia (PKJI, 2014) and VISSIM software. The results of the analysis show that the most appropriate alternative problem solving for the improvement of the Gunung Sari unsignalized intersection is the third alternative by widening the arms of the north, east, south and west intersections which expected to reduce delay value, degree of saturation, queuing opportunities, queue length and increase service levels (Level of Service). The analysis results obtained capacity (C) 5749 skr/hr, degree of saturation (DJ) 0.78, delay deviation (T) 11.70 sec/skr, and queuing probability (PA%) = 24.58% - 48.99 % with C score level of service. In VISSIM program simulation the largest intersection delay = 36.21 sec/ vehicle, while for the length of the northern approach queue = 11.16 meters, east = 35.44 meters, south = 11, 52 meters and west = 100.98 meters with C score level of service.
