This research used quantitative result with experimental design. It was conducted from 26th August until 11th September 2019. The population and sample are the students in grade IX which consisted of 27-28 students in each class, and the researcher used two classes, which were IX-B as control group and IX-C as experimental. The object of this research is the use of picture sequences. The instrument that used was test. From the research result, researcher got the mean score of experimental group in pre-test is 66.42 and for control group is 67.6. While, in post-test by giving picture sequences as media, the mean score of experimental group is 78.46 and for control group is 75.28. Based on the test result, there is an improvement from pre-test to the post-test. To examine the hypothesis, the researcher used t-test formula. The t-test is 2.043 and the t-table in significant level .05 (95%) is 1.676. By comparing the t-test and t-table, the result is 2.043 > 1.676. It could be seen that there is a positive effect of using picture sequences on teaching writing of procedure text.
