Abstract

Energy in Indonesia is currently quite advanced, but in remote areas, electricity is not yet affordable. Micro-hydro Electric Power Plant (MHP) is one solution to overcome this. And this study aims to determine the effect of variations in the angle of attack on the performance of Crossflow turbines. The research method used in this study uses two methods, namely literature studies and experimental studies, with variations in the angle of attack 15°, 20°, 30°, and 40° by giving loading from the lowest to the maximum load point of 1 kg, 2 kg, 3 kg , 4 kg to 8 kg. The water discharge is constant right to 1 m3 / minute and converted to 0.0167 m3 / second. The results of this study found that from an angle of attack 15 °, 20 °, 30 ° and 40 ° get the efficiency starting from the angle of 15 ° with a load of 4 kg 45.57%, then 20 ° with an efficiency of 49.61%, then 30 ° with an efficiency of 59.16% and finally the variation of 40 ° with a mass of 5 kg gets the highest efficiency of 60.90%
