Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship of student learning styles with communication skills of fifth grade elementary school students in cluster 1 Batukliang sub-district in the academic year 2019/2020. The type of research used is correlational research. The population in this study was 187 students from 6 elementary schools in cluster 1 Batukliang district. The research sample was taken using the Probability sampling technique with a sampling method that is Simple Random sampling and obtained a sample of 127 students from 6 elementary schools. Data collection methods used in this study were questionnaire and test methods. Hypothesis testing in this study uses the Product moment correlation formula. Based on the research results of the learning styles of fifth grade students in group 1 of Batukliang sub-district namely visual learning styles 47%, kinesthetic 47%, and auditory 6%. Communication skills of students have an average of 78.81 with a good category The results of data analysis using the SPSS Version 16.0 program showed that N = 127 at the 5% level of significance obtained sig = 0.907. Based on decision making if the sig value> 0.05 then Ha is rejected. Therefore it can be said 0.907> 0.05 then the hypothesis proposed or Ha is rejected, which means there is no relationship between students' learning styles and the communication skills of grade V elementary school students in group 1 Batukliang District 2019/2020 school year.
