Abstract

Eels in their natural habitat live in mud and make a hole in a rice field or river bank. People in general get eels only from nature, so that the availability of eels in nature will gradually decrease and eventually will make the price of eels on the market to be high. This study aims to determine the level of feed consumption, growth and better survival among maintenance media that have substrate and without substrate. The study was conducted from March 5 to April 14, 2018, at the AikBukak Fish Seed Center(BBI), Central Lombok Regency. The tools used in this study are aquariums, digital scales, aeration equipment, DO meters, pH meters, thermometers and tiles, while the materials used are eels, fresh water, silk worms, mud and manure. the experimental method and the research design used were completely randomized design (CRD). This study used two treatments and five replications, with differences in eel maintenance that is without a substrate and with the substrate on the basis of the maintenance media. Growth data including length, weight, FCR and Survival Rate (SR) of eels were analyzed simply using a T-test (α = 0.05), which was obtained from interpretation and drawn conclusions. FCR value, biomass accretion, length increment and SR eels showed significantly different results but the results obtained showed good values
