Abstract

This study is aimed to identify, classify and describe the way words affect psychological characteristics of the main character obtained from the data found in The Notebook movie which belong to observe the words in the dialogues of the main character in the movie. The writer uses the Andrew Newberg, M.D. and Mark Waldman theory of psychological aspect that words can literally change your brain. The writer uses the qualitative method to identify and describe the word power in the study. In the study, the writer collected data by watching and taking some dialogues from the movie. The writer found two kind of word power that affects character’s psychological characteristic in The Notebook movie which are positive and negative words.
