Abstract
Rice plants are annual crops that produce rice as the main food for the Indonesian population. Jajar Legowo planting system is a way of planting paddy rice with a pattern of several rows of plants interspersed with one empty row. Sekarbela sub-district is one of the two rice development centers in the province of West Nusa Tenggara which was involved in the UPSUS of rice plants in 2015. Based on the production and land area, the area obtained the most productive in the city of Mataram, which is 7,792 tons and the largest land area in the city. Mataram which is 1,386 Ha (BPS, 2019).The objectives of this study are: (1) to determine the level of application of jajar legowo planting technology in lowland rice farming in Sekarbela District, Mataram City; (2) Knowing the obstacles in applying jajar legowo planting technology in lowland rice farming in Sekarbela District, Mataram City. The research method used in this research is descriptive. The determination of the sample area is determined by purposive sampling or deliberately with the consideration that 3 (three) villages have a population of paddy farmers in the jajar legowo system more than any other village. The sampling technique used in this study used a quota sampling of 30 people and the determination of respondents using accidental sampling. The results of the analysis show that: (1) The application of jajar legowo planting technology in lowland rice farming in the District of Sekarbela, Mataram City has a high level of category with the percentage of application of jajar legowo planting strategies by 95%; (2) The obstacle faced by lowland rice in the Sekarbela Subdistrict of Mataram City is the lack of skilled workforce in implementing jajar legowo technology. The suggestions from researchers are: (1) The government should play an active role in fostering rice farmers both in the form of technical cultivation and economic aspects so that farmers can be more prosperous: (2) Farmers are expected to be able to apply jajar legowo technology optimally to get high profitability also maximum product quality
