Abstract

This study was conducted in two primary schools, Sekolah Nusa Alam and Sekolah Dasar Negeri Model Mataram. This study is aimed to investigate the differences in teaching learning processes and obstacles faced by teachers in first-second grade at Sekolah Nusa Alam, International Standard and third grade at Sekolah Dasar Negeri Model Mataram. The method of this research was descriptive qualitative. Data were collected through interview with one participant in each class. There was also conducted video recording as the aim to capture all activities in both classes. Among other findings, the present study reports media, language as teaching instruction, and classroom management are the main core. Students in Sekolah Nusa Alam and Sekolah Dasar Negeri Model Mataram are adopting similar activities, however, both primary schools are distinguished by some aspects such as; the background of students, the used of media, language of instructions used, and classroom management. Teachers are needed to improve the technique used and having training in classroom management as well as the used of media. Nevertheless, teaching- learning processes were running smoothly in Sekolah Nusa Alam and Sekolah Dasar Negeri Model Mataram, students were active in teaching and learning process.
