Abstract

This study analyzed the illocutionary was acts used in Indonesian 2019 presidential election which held on 19th April 2019. In the election debates, the writer analyzed the illocutionary acts used in Indonesian 2019 presidential election debates. The aims of this study are to analyze the types of illocutionary acts found in Indonesian 2019 Presidential election debate which are tackled by using Searle’s theory of Speech act. Second objective is to analyze which of those types are dominantly used by both candidates. This study used Searle’s classification of illocutionary acts to analyze the election debates videos. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The primary source of the study were two debates videos which are first debates and fifth debates and already transcribed. According to the result of the analysis, All types are found in the first and fifth debates. Then the types are dominantly used in Indonesian presidential election campaign debates 2019 is “assertives”. Then second is shows that “commisive” occurs 36 data.
