Abstract

Background: Malaria is one of infectious diseases which had become problem in Indonesia, especially in NTB, the eastern part of Indonesia. East Lombok has reported as a malaria endemic area with high prevalence. Increasing the incidence of malaria on a continuous basis, especially in 2016-2017 which has a very bad impact on public health. In dealing with it there is an important role of medical staff in implementing the program of efforts to eliminate malaria. The purpose of this research is to determine the correlation of knowledge, attitudes, and practice of medical staff with efforts to eliminate malaria. Method: This research is a correlative analytic study with cross sectional approach to 51 respondents which had chosen through purposive sampling. Data had been collected by questionnaire or structured interview to medical staff. Spearman nonparametric correlation test which has been used to statistical test in this study. Results: The result of this research has indicated that most respondents’ knowledge, attitude, practice and elimination efforts is in medium category, respectively with percentage 72.13%, 54.10%, 83.61%, and 49.18%. Based on correlation test result, there is significant correlation between practice and elimination effort (p = 0,016 and r = 0,307). Practice has easier to be observed than knowledge and attitude aspects. The primary aspect influencing activities of people in this study was behavior. Conclusion: There is no correlation between knowledge and attitude with malaria elimination effort. Knowledge and attitude are influenced by education and cognitive. Based on result of this study, only practice that has significant correlation with malaria elimination effort.
