Abstract

This Research is aimed to find out the effect of mind mapping technique on students’ ability in writing descriptive text. The design of this research was experimental design which used two group design : experimental group and control group. Experimental group was treated by using mind mapping technique, while control group was not treated by using mind mapping technique. The sampling technique used in this research was population sampling, in which all population was taken as sample. The data were collected through pre-test and post-test. In this study, the result of t-test value was higher than the value of t- table. (2.1 > 2.013) at significant level 0.5 in degree of freedom (df) 46. Thus, the Null hypothesis which stated that “there is no significant effect of using mind mapping technique on students’ ability in writing descriptive text” is rejected, and the alternate hypothesis which stated that “there is a significant effect of using mind mapping technique on students’ ability in writing descriptive text” failed to be rejected. This concludes that mind mapping technique gives significant effect in improving students’ ability in writing descriptive text.
