Abstract

The dry land in Indonesia is very wide, which is around 67 million hectares includingsomethosein the West Nusatenggara Province which covering area of1,807,463 ha. There are some constrains to develop thesedryland become a productive dryland farmingsuch as coarse soil texture and low water availabilityas a result of climatic condition with only 3 moths of wet month with eratic rainfall. The aims of this study is determine the effect of the irrigation methods (flooding and drip irrigation), biochar, biofertilizers and phytosanapplicationon growth, yield and irrigation efficiency of sorghum plant inthe sandy soil of dryland of the North Lombok.Field research was conducted at the Teaching Farm Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Mataram in Akar Akar Village, Subdistric of BayanofNorth Lombok Regency from October 2018 to February 2019. The experimental design used inthis study was a split plot design, with the main plot treatment of two irrigation methods namely thefloodingirrigationmethod( IL) and drip irrigation method(IT) and subplots consist of 6 treatments (control; biochar 10tons/ ha; phytosan 5 cc / liter; biochar 10tons/ ha + phytosan 5 cc / liter; biological fertilizer IMR 2kg / ha and biochar 10 tons/ ha + biological fertilizer IMR 2kg / ha with three replications so that we get 18 subplots in each irrigation method. The results showed that: (1) The combination of biochar and RhyzosphereMicrobial Inocum (IMR) was able to increase the maximum vegetative dry weight of sorghum plants up to 87%. (2) The treatment of biochar and phytosan can increasedthe production of sorghum plantsup to52%. (3) Flooding irrigation and drip irrigation methods did not significantly influence the dry weight of sorghum plants, butbiofertilozersignificantlyinfluencedthe maximum vegetative dry weight of sorghum plants. (4) There is an effect of the irrigationefficiency under two irrigation methods width 23.14 mm/ ha for drip irrigationmethod and 12.42 mm / hafor flooding irrigation method, but thosetwo irrigation methods did not interact with thedryweightand yield of sorghum crop.
