Abstract

The study is An Analysis of Formal and Informal Diction in the Ron Clark Story Movie. The objectives of this thesis are to find out the levels of formal and informal dictions and to know the usages of formal and informal diction found in The Ron Clark Story movie. The data of this study were taken from “The Ron Clark Story” movie by using qualitative method and applying content analysis. The main data will be gained from the conversation happened in the movie. the researcher found that the level of dictions which are used a lot more is the informal diction that is contraction which gets the higher percentage 27.86%. Meanwhile, the dictions which the lowest use in this study is slang word with the percentage of 3.70%. There for, it is implied that there are two levels of diction contained in the film, namely formal and informal diction, the informal diction found slang, colloquial language, contraction and incomplete sentences.
