Abstract
AN ANALYSIS OF GENDER DIFFERENCES IN READING COMPREHENSION; a case study on the second year students of SMP Negeri 11 Mataram in Academic year 2013/2014 This study aims to analyze gender differences in reading comprehension in the second year students of SMP Negeri 11 Mataram in the academic year 2013/2014. This case study took 33 female students and 33 male students. Regarding the data collection, the group was given the test and questionnaire with the same type. The calculation of the value of students revealed that T-table value of groups. The t-table in both significance level of 0.05(95%) and 0.01(99%) is equal to 1.9977 and 2.6549,it can be concluded there are significant differences between score of female and male students in reading comprehension test in the second year students of SMP Negeri 11 Mataram in the academic year 2013/2014. The results of the questionnaire there are differences dominant factors between male and female students, obtained factors which support the ability. Female students more focus on intellegence and experience factor,and male students more focus on skill of reading comprehension and interest factor.
