Abstract
This research is aimed in identifying and describing the kinds of speech acts focusing on the employment of illocutionary acts and the most dominant speech acts in Date Night movie. The methodology used in this research is qualitative descriptive. Atahe researcher collects the data from the script of Date Night movie and then describe the classification of illocutionary act and the most dominant type of speech acts used by the character in Date Night movie. The researcher found 58 utterances classified into 4 clasification such as Representative/assertive, Directive, Commisive and Expressive. From the theory used, illocutionary act was dominantly performed by the main character with 32 utterances by expressive with 27 utterances and commisive with 5 utterances , continued by perlocutionary act with 26 utterances express by Representative with 14 utterances and directive with 12 utterances. Researcher also found 3 perlocutionary act. Furthermore, the researcher found that expressive illocutionary act as the most dominant type of speech act used by the character in Date Night movie.
