Abstract

The thesis entitled “An Analysis of the Use of Hyperbole to Deliver Moral Value in Mariah Carey’s songs: “Hero” and “Through the Rain”. The objectives of the study are to find out hyperbole expression which stated in Mariah Carey‟s songs and to deliver the moral message in the song. Because of this thesis was not a series of numbers, so that the writer used a descriptive qualitative method that describing the facts, data or material objects. In this study, the data sources were taken from the songs and the data are hyperbole expression on the song. In this thesis, the writer finds 7 hyperbole expression in two Mariah Carey‟s songs, they are: If you look inside your heart, If you reach into your soul, If you search within yourself, Dream are Hard to Follow, I hold Tighter to my faith, when the rain blows, and, and I Know that I’m strong Enough to Mend.
