Abstract

This study aims to find out the common problems in teaching English experienced by English teachers during the Covid-19 pandemic and how the English teachers deal with the common problems. This research was conducted at SMPN 1 Gunungsari with five English teachers who were the participants in this study. This research is a descriptive qualitative research, where to collect the data, the researcher used a questionnaire and interview method. The results of this study indicate that the English teachers at SMPN 1 Gunungsari have many problems in teaching English. In total, there were twelve common problems in teaching English experienced by English teachers during the Covid-19 pandemic, but the English teachers admitted that from the twelve common problems found, there were two common problems that more often experienced by them. First, the problems where not all students have the technology to learn during the Covid-19 pandemic. Second, the problems related to the internet quota and internet network. The English teachers have various ways of dealing with some common problems in teaching English. However, most of the English teachers provide the same solution to these common problems, namely by conducting offline learning (luring) or paying home visit.
