Abstract

This research entitled The Use of Parallel Puzzle as Medium in Teaching English Vocabulary; An Experimental Study at The Second Grade Studets of SMPN 04 Narmada in Academic Year 2014/2015. The objective of this study was to know whether the Parallel puzzle has positive effect in developing students vocabulary. The research design was an experimental research. The samples of the study were students in SMPN 04 NARMADA consist of 25 students as experimental group and 25 students as control group. Thus, the total number of samples of this research was 50 out of 134 students. The researcher chose pre test, post test with two treatments. In analyzing the data, it was used statistical analysis with t-test formula. The result of this study showed that the value of t-test is 6.9. This was higher than the critical value of t-table at the confidence level .05 (95%) with 2.01 and at confidence level .01 (99%) equals to 2.68 in degree of freedom (df) of 48. Based on this finding, it was concluded that the uses of Parallel Puzzle has positif effect in developing students’ vocabulary.
