Abstract

the use of pronouns as polite markers in Ngeno-Ngene dialect at Lenek, East Lombok Regency. It analyzes the contributions of contexts and participants to the use of second person singular. It also examines the functions that are expressed by those markers. Several factors such as formality and informality of context, age, gender, and social status influence the appearance of pronouns. The method of the study is descriptive-qualitative method. The entire data was obtained through recording, narrating, and note-taking. The results of the study are contexts and participants determine the appearance of pronouns Sida, Ida, and Epe. Age and informal context are By This study is aimed at investigating dominant to their contributions through the use of Basa Jamaq. The pronouns Sida and Ida are used to address older people, and Epe is used to address younger ones. The results of data analysis indicate that the topic and the settings also contribute significantly to the use of second person of address as polite markers. The use of polite markers is clearly to mark asymmetrical status among participants in terms of power and status. The study also recommends that future research should be directed to more comprehensive data about the use of second person pronouns.
