Abstract
The aims of this research are (1) to discovering the effectiveness between students’ self-confidence before and after treatment or discussion,(2) to find out the correlation between students’ self-confidence and students’ speaking ability. This research used experimental single group design to get the data from the research. The subjects of this research were 34 students at the first grade of SMAN 3 Selong. The researcher used pre-test and post-test to get the score of the students. The result of this research shows there are correlation between student’ self-confidence after applied small group discussion using t-test, and the result shows the positive correlation between students’ speaking ability and student’ self-confidence that the researcher counted using coefficient correlation spearman product moment, it means that t count> t table and H02 is rejected and shows the positive correlation that is 0.066. Next is the significance between speaking ability and self-confidence counted using t-test shows 6.22 > 1.66 it means that t count > t table and proved the significance between student’ speaking ability and students’ self-confidence.
