Abstract

This study aimed to find out (1) the profile of language learning strategies, (2) the profile of students' thinking styles, and (3) the significant correlation between language learning strategies and students' thinking styles of eleventh-grade students of MA Al-Aziziyah Putri Gunungsari Lombok Barat. Quantitative correlational method was used as the research method to analyze the data. There were 194 eleventh-grade students of MA AL-Aziziyah Putri as the population, and 30 students taken as samples. This study used a questionnaire as the instrument. There were two kinds of questionnaires in this study: questionnaires on language learning strategies and questionnaires about students' thinking styles. Based on the data analysis, the profile of language learning strategies discovered the strategies that students commonly use in the English learning process, while the profile of students' thinking styles discovered the thinking styles that students usually use in collecting, processing, and making decisions when learning English. There was a significant positive correlation between language learning strategies and students' thinking styles of MA AL Aziziyah Putri Gunungsari, Lombok Barat. The Pearson correlation had a significant value of 0.02, showing that language learning strategies (X) and students' thinking styles (Y) were correlated because the significant value was < 0.05. The correlation coefficient r count was 0.545, considered a moderate correlation included in the third category of the interpretation r table (0.60-0.799), and the significant correlation was positive.
