Abstract

This research conducted in order to find out English Teacher`s strategies in increasing the students learning motivation and to describe how English teacher apply the strategies to increase the students learning motivation. The method of this research is a qualitative descriptive. Data sources of this research are three English Teachers and first step students of Cake English Course Kampung Inggris Pare Mataram. The researcher conducted observation, interview, and questionnaire to three teachers and students to collect the data. The researcher used simple strategies in discussion such as; inquiry strategy, expletory strategy, and instructional strategy. The finding in the result of observation, interview, and questionnaire proved that English teacher`s strategies in teaching have motivated the students to learn English. Based on the finding, it can be conclude that English teacher`s strategies to increase the student learning motivation in teaching English are speech strategy, discussion strategy, question and answer strategy, punish and reward strategy, homework strategy, group working, personal strategy, jokes, games, telling story, and using some media. The most of them are moderately increased and motivated their students using inquiry strategy. The students of Cake English Course Kampung Inggris Pare Mataram have good response to the English teacher motivation. The most of them have intrinsic motivation to learn English at the English course
