Abstract

This thesis is written based on an animation movie by Jerry Seinfeld, BEE. The focus of this study is on the social value. The data were gathered through the movie, internet research and library research. This study uses mimetic approach from Abrams and Notonegoro argues which focuses on the form of social value. The method used in this thesis is the Library Research. The results of this research are: (1) The form of social value. (2) How those social value apply in reality. There are two main characters in the story of the movie; Barry, a graduated bee who wants the freedom for their colony and Vanessa a florist girl who has flower shop and helps Barry to sue the human rice. There are six form of social value found in the movie; (1) Advice, it is shown from Barry’s father to him. (2) Cooperate, it is shown from bees that always work together everyday. (3) Helping, it is shown by Vanessa who helped Barry from Ken. (4) Hospitality, it is shown by Vanessa when she met Barry. (5) Justice, it is shown form the decision of the judge and the last (6) Responsibility, it is shown by Barry when he asked bees to spread the pollen. After the writer found the social value in the movie, he uses mimetic approach to explain how those social values apply in reality. social value, animation movie, mimetic approach.
