Abstract

This study focused on finding out the effect of audio-visual media on student’s vocabulary retention and to determine students’ perception about learning by using AVM. This was an experimental research which conducted in NurulHaramain Islamic Boarding School, Narmada, West Lombok. The population of the study were the 9th grade students. The researcher involved two classes which consist 28 students in each. So, there were 56 students used as sample. The classes were divided into two groups; Experimental and Control group. To collect the data, the researcher applied tests (Pre-test and Post-test) and questionnaire. The finding showed that there was no student in the experimental group classified into excellent category, but after doing the treatment the score of students in experimental group improved well. There were seven students who understood the material very well. Then, the result of paired sample test showed the Sig. value was 0.00 < 0.05 which means there was a significant difference of student’s learning outcome.
