Abstract

Abstract: This study focused on finding out the use of printed mass media in teaching reading for X grade of SMAN 1 Sakra. This was an-experimental research conducted in SMAN 1 Sakra, Batu Bokah Palung, East Lombok. The population of the study was the X-grade students. The researcher involved two classes which consist of 36 and 35 students in each. So, there were 71 students used as sample. The classes are divided into two Groups; Experimental and Control Group. To collect the data, the researcher applied tests (Pre-test and Posttest) as the method used. The results of this study indicate that the Experimental class group belongs to a class that is not good as well as the control class is classified as a class that is not good, but after the experimental class gives treatment test was carried out, it showed significant results where the scores in the experimental class increased very well and even far different before doing the treatment. Almost all students get very good grades, understood the material, and improved well. Then the results of the paired sample test show the value of sig. the value of 0.000<0.05 which means that there are significant differences in the students learning outcomes.
