Abstract

The purposes in this research are (1) to explain the causes of Joanna having an illusion to her family in the Kramer versus Kramer movie, and (2) to describe Joanna's life after the illusion in the Kramer versus Kramer movie. An illusion is a distortion of the senses, which can uncover how the human mind typically puts together and deciphers tangible feelings. However illusions distort our impression of the real world, they are by and large shared by the vast majority. Illusions might happen with any of the human senses, but visual illusions (optical illusions) are the most popular and perceived. There are three kinds of illusions: mental illusions, exacting illusions, and physiological illusions. The method used in this study is a qualitative method. In this study, the writer used the method of collecting data by watching, quoting and marking the dialogues and scenes in the Kramer Versus Kramer movie. In this research, the writer found some causes and effects of illusion to Joanna’s life. They are unhappy, isolated, miserable, selfish, searching for self identity, beautiful, guilty, regretful, and wise. Joanna’s illusion can be seen according to the dialogues and scenes in the Kramer Versus Kramer movie.
