Abstract

This thesis deals with jargon, a special set of vocabulary or words which are usually occurs in many communities and professions. The writer has found that jargon exist in Kaskus forum. This study aims to discover the jargon words semantically and morphologically. The analyses of the jargon deal with denotation and connotation meanings and it also concentrates on word formation processes. The writer use qualitative research for conducting the research. The data were collected by searching to the website directly and providing a link in every data collected as the reference. By carrying out them, the writer discovered 53 jargon words. The writer found out that there are 27 (52%) words have connotation meaning and 26 (48%) words have denotation meaning. For word formation aspect, there are three categories which are word-formation with one process, word-formation with two processes and word-formation with three processes. The result indicated that jargon word with one processes are the most frequently occur on Kaskus, especially the borrowing process. From the data, there are 23 jargons out of 57 using borrowing as their word-formation processes. It proves that Indonesian tend to use English language as their jargon whether those are modified or not.
