Abstract
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to determine whether scaffolding can have a significant effect on students' ability to master parts of speech. In this study, the sample used was class VIII SMPN 21 MATARAM. The sample was VIIIAclass which consisted of 31 students. The method used quantitative pre-experimental design pre-test and post test were administred to sample student. The findings of this study are the mean score of the students' pre-test is 51,875 and the mean posttest score of the students is 74,387. The study found a significant differences of the pre-test and post test. The results of the statistical hypothesis found a significance level of 0.000 < 0.005. Thus H0 (Nul Hypothesis) is rejected and H1 (Alternative Hypothesis) is accepted. This indicates that the use of scaffolding techniques is effective on students' ability to master parts of speech.
